Lace
Lace masks are the lightest option and the easiest to wear for a full evening. They sit close to the face, come in the widest range of colors, and layer well over makeup without smudging. They're the most popular choice for prom and for anyone who plans to be talking, eating, or dancing for hours. The tradeoff is drama — lace reads as elegant rather than bold.
Laser-cut metal
Metal masks hold their shape rigidly, which gives them a cleaner, more sculptural silhouette than lace. They're the standard choice for formal events and weddings because they photograph sharply and don't shift during the night. They sit a little heavier than lace, and the edges can feel more structured against the face, so they're worth trying on if you're sensitive to that.
Feather
Feather masks add height and movement that neither lace nor metal can — they catch the light and stand out in photos, especially under low or colored event lighting. They're the most eye-catching option and a natural fit for Mardi Gras or any event where you want to be noticed. They're also the least practical for a packed dance floor, since feathers can shift or catch on things.
Which should you pick?
